This event is brought to you by Spotlight YOPD, who work to spread awareness about Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease. All proceeds will be kindly donated to The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.

On August 19th Billy Taylor and Barry Hayes will set off from Lechlade to row the length of the river Thames in an Ocean Rowing Boat, taking 4 days to cover approximately 120 miles. An 'ocean rowing boat' is more expected to be seen on the high seas than a river. In the same way, most people expect Parkinson's to be a condition of the elderly. Well, we're here - in a boat mainly crewed by those with Young Onset Parkinson's - to challenge those perceptions. We are doing this to raise awareness of Young Onset Parkinson’s disease, and we need your help.

We are already receiving some of that help from 6 people that were diagnosed with YOPD joining us on the boat. However, there are also 5 opportunities for everybody else to come along and show their support, and we hope that as many people as possible with PD, and especially YOPD, along with their friends, family and work colleagues, will make it. The event will kick off with a 'An Evening for People with Parkinson's' in Abingdon, Oxfordshire on August 19th.

This is an event that covers 5 days and nearly all of the Thames Vally area. It is a fantastic opportuinity for us to all work together and raise as much awareness as possible, promote taking up exercise and inspire others with PD to set themselves their own challenges. We look forward to seeing you there!
