The triennial World Parkinson Congresses provide an international forum for dialogue on the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices, and caregiver initiatives related to Parkinson’s disease.

Each Congress brings together physicians, neuroscientists, a broad range of other health professionals, care partners, and people with PD (PwPs) for a unique and inspiring experience. Cross pollinating members of the community is important in the effort to expedite the discovery of a cure and cultivate best treatment practices for this devastating disease.

Mission
To provide an international forum to learn about the latest scientific discoveries, medical practices, caregiver initiatives and advocacy work related to Parkinson's disease. By bringing physicians, scientists, nurses, rehabilitation specialists, caregivers and people with Parkinson's disease together, each Congress allows for a worldwide dialogue to help expedite the discovery of a cure and best treatment practices for this devastating disease.

Tom Isaacs

The World Parkinson Congress was a big part of Tom's mission to engage people with Parkinson's in the research arena. Tom participated in the World Parkinson Congresses consistently and with great passion when we launched the Coalition in 2004. He spoke at every Congress since the launch and was seminal in the success of four WPC's by helping prepare the patient advocate community to engage and participate in the Congress while taking control of their healthcare. He inspired WPC to start the 'Ambassador program' in 2010, the first of its kind, and he participated over the years on the WPC Steering Committee, WPC Advocates Committee and most recently the WPC Program Committee.

Tom inspired many people with Parkinson’s to engage in clinical trials and to speak out about their Parkinson’s to raise awareness. Tom’s dignity, sense of humor, and incredible ability to carry a tune and give everyone a good laugh, impacted the lives of thousands of people all around the world.
