Sir David Jones (pictured above right with Tom Isaacs and Michael J Fox), a former co-founder of The Cure Parkinson's Trust (CPT), has died. Sir David was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s at the age of 39 and in 2005 he joined Tom Isaacs, Sir Richard Nichols and Air Vice Marshal Michael Dicken in founding The Cure Parkinson's Trust.

It was through Sir David that CPT benefited from a major fundraising event organised by NEXT to start funding research into a cure for Parkinson's, together with the Michael J Fox Foundation in 2006. This initial impetus and Sir David's determination to help find a cure for everyone living with Parkinson’s ensured that CPT started with a clear purpose and determination that is still its hallmark today. Without his generous and unwavering support CPT would not have been able to achieve all it has done and continues to do.

On behalf of everyone at CPT, our thoughts, our gratitude and condolences are with David’s wife Ann and his family.

Our dynamic approach means we must maintain our fundraising and research momentum. 2020 brings a new drive towards finding a cure. We have come a long way in 15 years but another 15 years is too long to wait. Please help us fund further research to slow, stop or even reverse Parkinson's.
