The Cure Collective About the Cure Collective The Cure Collective is your opportunity to join with like-minded individuals who are all committed to help drive forward the quest to find a cure for Parkinson’s. By committing your support with a minimum annual donation of £5,000 or more (for a period of at least five years or longer) you will enable us to plan for and support the ground-breaking Linked Clinical Trials programme helping us get to a cure faster. The Linked Clinical Trials programme In 2012, the Linked Clinical Trials initiative was launched with the specific aim of transforming the way scientists, clinicians and patients think and work towards finding a cure for Parkinson’s. Drugs which are in development, or already being used to treat other conditions, and which show strong evidence they may also slow neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s, are submitted for clinical trial. Since then, our Linked Clinical Trials committee has prioritised over 40 new therapies that have the potential to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s and we now have 17 trials either imminently starting, underway or finished. Our first completed trial of Exendin has provided the strongest evidence yet that a drug from another disease area (in this case diabetes) can make real inroads into finding a cure for Parkinson’s. A special invitation from Christopher Moger QC “Since one of my sons, in his twenties at the time, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s I have seen at first hand the challenges of living with this condition. I was delighted to be asked to help The Cure Parkinson’s Trust and to be given this most welcome opportunity to make a contribution towards that elusive goal - finding a cure. The Cure Parkinson’s Trust has the bold ambition and drive of its late founder, the charismatic Tom Isaacs. It has created a strategy and put together the global partnerships that are needed to make a real difference. The research that The Cure Parkinson’s Trust has identified to date, and is continuing to identify, offers real prospects to improve the lives of the 10 million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s. This research urgently needs funding. As Chair of the Cure Collective, I am looking for people who want, with us, to play an important part in finding a cure for this devastating condition. The problem is all too obvious.
