A huge thank you to Mark Newnham (pictured above left) who selected The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) as his chosen charity during his year of Captaincy at the Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks, Kent. Hosting two fantastic fundraising events throughout 2018, Mark raised over £24,500 for CPT’s research into a cure for Parkinson’s. Mark said:

“During my Captaincy I held two major fundraising events at Wilderness Golf Club (pictured below). The first was my ‘Captain’s Charity Golf Day’ which took place in April 2018. This was attended by both members, friends and regular supporters of CPT events from various parts of the country and the day very pleasingly, raised £11,800.

The second event was our annual ‘Sportsman’s Dinner’ which took place in November. 160 people attended the dinner which was fantastic and I was fortunate to have a very well known UK sportsman as my guest speaker. I am very grateful to all the members of the golf club for purchasing raffle tickets and generously supporting the auction both that evening and at other events during my year as Captain.

I was delighted to support The Cure Parkinson’s Trust as my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a few years ago and as a result I now realise how many people of all ages are affected by this disease and the impact it has on their lives. What impressed me about CPT is that funds raised are channeled directly into clinical trials to research treatments that have the capacity to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s.”
