The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT), Artwise and Bonhams are delighted to announce the sum of half a million pounds raised thus far this year by the 2018 Cure3 Exhibition. With more sales still anticipated, the amount raised at this stage surpasses the £300,000 raised by the inaugural Cure3  in 2017. All profits from Cure3 will be going directly to CPT’s ground-breaking research into a cure for Parkinson’s.

The exhibition which took place at Bonhams, London ran from 26th October – 28th October 2018 with a preview on the evening of 25th October. The VIP guests for the opening night, including eager collectors and a host of participating artists, were joined by CPT Patron, Mike Tindall who was interviewed live from the preview about Cure3 and the ongoing work of CPT for BBC London News. Artwise’s Susie Allen and CPT Trustee, David Ashford Jones were also interviewed for London Live.

Among the many impressive sales clocked up within an hour of the exhibition opening were Sir Anish Kapoor’s sumptuous blue domestic scale work ‘Blue3 for Cure3’ and the legendary Carmen Herrera’s ‘Blue Angle’ – her 1st ever sculptural work for public donation. By the end of the evening, works by artists including Turner Prize Winner, Helen Marten, Gavin Turk, Sir Peter Blake and Jonathan Yeo had all been snapped up, achieving an incredible opening night total in excess of £350,000 – beating the £300,000 achieved for all sales in 2017. Deputy Chairman of Bonhams UK, Harvey Cammell, said:

“Having been closely involved since its inception, Bonhams are proud supporters of Cure3. Given the importance and number of participating artists, I am delighted that sales from the exhibition far exceeded last year’s inaugural event and raised so much for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.”

Each specially commissioned work was created using a bespoke, Perspex box of 20cmᶟ with the artists using the cube in an incredible variety of ways to support, frame or contain their work. The artworks this year have been stunning, spanning both established names and rising stars in the art world.

A small selection of cubes are still available online.
