The Great 'Norman's Conquest'! Norman Yarrow, an investment banker, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2013. Walking on average 15 miles a day Norman was joined in support of his goal by many friends and family as well as well-known faces including Scottish rugby and Lions legend Gavin Hastings whose wife Diane was diagnosed with Parkinson's in her 30's. Norman said: “We set out with three things to achieve: raise money, raise awareness and make friends. We've done all that.” Wife Carol, who provided the logistical support, said: "It was amazing. We had 250 people join us along the way, with eight and Norman completing the entire walk. It's such an incredible achievement." ** In January of this year, Norman was honoured by 10 Downing Street recognising him as their 452nd 'Point of Light', presented by Gavin Hastings “Norman has shown incredible strength and determination in his response to his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease. By undertaking ‘Norman’s Conquest’ he has not only raised a fantastic amount of money to try to find a cure for this debilitating condition, he has also inspired a huge number of people to join his cause and raised awareness about the disease. I am delighted to recognise Norman as the UK’s 452nd Point of Light.” Prime Minister The Rt Hon. David Cameron MP ** Norman has created a wonderful photo book of the walk.
